Run

From your past, from your future,
From your desires, your own nature,
From your loved, from your enemies,
From all thats close, from all thats true.

Run

Make more distance, it will get you,
Keep going, don’t face what is true,
The truth will leave you in tears,
You don’t need to face your fears.

Run

Don’t stop, you don’t want to understand,
Push harder, run till your breath burns,
Until you are desolate, barren, scorched -
The desert of your own being, and you crawl…

Run

Swifter, Harder, Stronger, Farther,
Away, far far away from your fears,
Far far away from the truth that hurts,
Far far away from all that burns.

Run

Don’t turn around, you will see beauty,
Don’t turn around, you will see truth,
Look at the desolation all around, that
Is all you have. So gather all your might…

Run

Into oblivion, like a coward who never could
Face whats true. Look what you are now,
A shadow of a man. No, don’t think of what
You could have been if you had just stopped.

Just RUN!

This one still needs a lot of work. Rhyming, for example ;) .

I’m generally quite picky about poetry, but I rather enjoyed this one. I guess that may be because I feel I can relate to these days. Oh, and rhyme is over-rated!

Glad you liked it. Well I guess you’re right, its the idea that matters, not the rhyming ;) .

The message should always be more important the technique. In my experience, forced rhyme is easily discernible and tends to lessen the readers experience. Then again, it may just be my personal tastes, some of my absolute favorite poems have no rhyme to speak of.

I read your other comment, and will reply when I feel up to giving it the thorough reply that it deserves. You’ll have to bear with me, as interaction -even if only online – still takes a lot out of me.
